Acupuncture Helps with Stress
I don't need a crystal ball to know that you are suffering from stress.
It has been made evident by every patient who has ever walked through my door and has been proven by epigeneticists.
We ALL suffer from stress.
Did you know that 95% of all diseases are due to stress?
Type II diabetes....stress
Auto-immune diseases....stress
Infertility.....stress
Hormone imbalances....stress
High blood pressure....stress
Heart disease....stress
Arthritis....stress
Cancer....stress
Eczema....stress
I could go on and on with this list, but the point is, the conditions you thought were "hereditary" or genetic are actually made manifest due to stress.
This is both a frightening and exciting realization. The scary part: we have waaaayyyyyy more control over our health than we thought and, given this fact, we have a much larger responsibility to take care of ourselves.
The exciting part: armed with a little bit of knowledge and through close attention to body and mind, we can lead our own healing revolution, prevent disease before it happens, and dramatically improve our own quality of life.
If stress is the number one factor for disease, then why aren't more people treating their stress more seriously?
In my experience, people ignore the initial symptoms of stress because acute stress doesn't physically stop us or prevent us from carrying on with life as usual.
Many people dismiss their symptoms as nothing serious and nothing to worry about. And let's face it, the changes happening in our body and mind certainly aren't serious enough to warrant a change in behavior.
Even if you are in a stress "pressure cooker", the effect of stress may take weeks or even months to slow you down or cause a healing crisis.
The day to day stress most of us experience, the "non-pressure cooker type", can take years to rear its ugly head in the form of disease.
It isn't until the body and mind are in obvious states of dis-ease that most people even begin looking for a solution to their health issues.
A word to the wise: the little things you do on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for your body, mind and spirit, have a net positive effect on health.
We are often tricked into believing that we have to live deeply disciplined lives in order to have the body of our dreams. This simply isn't true.
Here are two things you can do this week to help your body deal with the negative effects of stress:
Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
Get acupuncture.
A scientific study done on rats concluded that acupuncture inhibits the HPA axis (hypothalmic-pituitary-adrenal axis) and down regulates stress hormones. This is just another way acupuncture can help you heal and improve your wellbeing.
